Women’s Day is celebrated widely throughout Europe and is finding it’s place in the U.S. as a day to honor women and celebrate women’s achievements

Pink Birthday Party

Julianne recently created the floral decorations for a fun, “over the top” 50th birthday party held at the Hilton Hotel here in Eugene. Since they wanted everything pink, Julianne started with pink curly willow branches curled inside large bubble bowls with pink-tinted water.

To get the hydrangeas a hot-pink hue, she gave white hydrangeas a hit of floral spray to make them really pop in combination with the other naturally pink flowers. The large arrangements got a little extra pink glamour with hot pink rhinestone wrap and and explosion of pink flowers.

We love that this Birthday Girl didn’t shy away from the big 5-0 but instead celebrated in style!

Happy Bosses Day, Shirley Lyons!

Last month, our wonderful boss Shirley Lyons was installed as the President of the Society of American Florists (SAF), a trade association representing the U.S. floral industry that has been around for 130 years. Not only is she their first woman president, she is also the first Oregonian to serve. What an accomplishment! And what an example to women! We are so proud of her!

Shirley’s love for her community and desire to touch lives and make everyday things just that much more special is  evident in the community contests and events Dandelions hosts, and the employees at Dandelions get to benefit from this great-heartedness up close. We get the everyday view of Shirley that not everyone sees, and for this Bosses Day, we wanted her to catch a glimpse of how we see her, a sense of who she is to us. Each staff-member at Dandelions picked a word or two to describe Shirley, so she’d know how special she is to us:

Dandelions designs flowers for Elton John

Sir Elton John is in Eugene, OR tonight for a stop of his “Greatest Hits Live” Concert Tour. Dandelions Flowers was thrilled to be asked to create floral designs for Elton’s dressing room and lounge. This is one of the first major events at the Matthew Knight Arena and Elton’s first trip to Eugene. They asked for simple and chic cubes of roses and an elegant, vibrant vase bouquet in style with Elton’s personal flowers in his home.  We had so much fun working with them and look forward to working with them in the future!

Shirley even got her groove on while helping to design with Elton-esque glasses!!
