Find local flowers at Dandelions: Green Gables Farm

Dandelions Flowers always strives to support local flower growers whenever possible. Oregon may not have the sunshine that California or South American can boast of but we can still produce an amazing variety of flowers and foliages.

One of our sources for flowers in Green Gables Farms in Philomath, Oregon. They grow a variety of bulb flowers including tulips, daffodils, irises, lilies and peonies.

Flower Astrology: Gemini Horoscope May 22-June21

Zodiac Sign: Easily adaptable and versatile – with a lively (sometimes bordering on the mischievous) imagination – Geminis are one of the most creative of all the zodiac signs. With the heavenly twins as their birth sign symbol, and a lightheartedness often associated with air signs, it’s no surprise that Geminis have highly sociable and playful personalities. Their expressive (downright talkative), clever qualities make them fun-loving friends and treasured companions.

Birth Sign Flower: Surprise a Gemini with a flower bouquet filled with roses – a flower that symbolizes the essence of their zodiac sign: love and companionship. With the ability to convey a wide range of messages and sentiments depending on their color, roses are a perfect match for this birth sign’s multi-dimensional (twin) sides, from friendship to passion, quiet sophistication to a bright burst of fun. Geminis also like to have a peaceful balance in their lives, for which calming lavender is always a perfect go-to.

Kate Middleton’s Bridal Bouquet

All eyes were on the Royal Wedding at the end of April and two of the biggest questions surrounding the big day were 1). What will Kate’s dress look like and 2). What will her bridal bouquet look like?

Kate looked classic and elegant in her modern take on a classic dress and chose a simple, chic bouquet made of lily of the valley, sweet william, hyacinth and myrtle ( a royal tradition). In stark contrast to Princess Diana’s bouquet, Kate’s bouquet was a small clutch instead of a cascade.

Lily of the valley is a short-stemmed flower with small bell-like blossoms. Although many bride’s desire it for their bouquets, it is a flower that poses some obstacles. In addition to being sensitive to heat (it’s a spring blossom), lily of the valley can be expensive.

2011 Eugene’s Favorite Mom: Shannon Schroeder

After receiving close to 40 entries for the 1st Annual Eugene’s Favorite Mom, Springfield mom Shannon  Schroeder was named Eugene’s Favorite Mom.  Dandelions, in conjunction with co-sponsors Bello Day Spa, Hartwick’s Kitchen Store, and King Estate Winery, delivered an amazing prize package worth over $450 on Saturday to Shannon with her family looking on.

Each entry told us about a mom who deserved pampering and we wish we could have awarded them all!! It really was amazing to read the inspiring stories about women here in the Eugene/Springfield area written by those who loved them. There could only be one winner, however, and Shannon’s story of perseverance, faith and dedication to her family won the hearts of all who reviewed the entries.

KMTR followed along during the presentation and you can watch the news clip here…

Eugene’s Favorite Mom Winning Entry

“Shannon is a mother of three children: George, Elizabeth and an 18 month old miracle son, Christopher. Christopher was born on Nov. 30, 2009 with serious heart complications. Approximately 2 months after his birth, he received a heart transplant at the Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. After six months of recovery in Arkansas, he returned to Portland last August. He was finally able to move home (to Springfield) in October. Since that time, Christopher has been slowly growing and progressing despite weak kidneys which require him to be on dialysis for 12 hours a day. The family hopes to begin the kidney transplant process in the next few months.

Shannon is on e of the bravest women I have ever known. She has been by her “little bear’s” side since his birth and has faithfully cared for his physical needs and prayed for his healing. She continues to be there for her two older children and even while they were apart, she was connected to them and aware of all of the details and accomplishments in their deaily lives. The expanse of her love for all three of her children and her husband is immeasuarble. When life, work, familyand daily stresses start to get the better of me, I only need to think of Shannon to put the power of motherhood into perspective and to know that there is no one else in my life who has demonstrated such steadfast patience, strength and unwavering faith in her childreen and their purpose in life. She deserves nothing more than hours and hours of pampering and recognition and I hope you will sincerely consider her for this package. To learn more about Shannon Schroeder, please see the following video on YouTube that was created for a shower for Christopher’s return home to Eugene.

Thank you for your consideration,

Danielle Guerrero”
