Still Trending: Vintage Lace & Burlap

As we head into the 2014 wedding season the projected trends are becoming more concrete in terms of colors, themes and details for weddings. Lace and burlap is still extremely popular among brides whose weddings fall into the following categories: vintage, country chic, rustic, barn weddings and romantic but casual outdoor affairs.

Burlap was the #1 stem wrap of choice for all the weddings I did last year. Bridesmaid’s bouquets were wrapped with burlap while most of the bridal bouquets were a combination of burlap and lace treatments. I also incorporated the burlap in corsages and boutonnieres so that the whole look was cohesive. Burlap can be used as table runners, banners or wrapped around vases. Adding lace to any of these adds romance and softens the look instantly.

Yellow Wedding Ideas

Pantone Freesia is part of their Spring Fashion Report for 2014. Shades of yellow have been popular wedding colors and that trend will continue into this summer. Yellow and grey will continue to be seen for modern, chic weddings while the yellow & blue combination is often chosen for quaint, country weddings. For a spring wedding, pair yellow with paler shades of pink, green or lavender for a pastel palette or combine it with other bold colors of tangerine orange, coral or aqua for a bright, cheerful affair.

Monochromatic Wedding Flowers

Monochromatic bouquets make a big impact. A recent wedding of the son of one of our employees employed monochromatic bridesmaids bouquets and boutonnieres while the bridal bouquet and groom’s boutonniere combined all 3 colors.

IMG_1696The yellow bouquet included sunflowers, freesia, roses, craspedia (billy balls), alstromeria and solid aster.

The pink bridesmaid bouquet included gerbera daisies, roses, dahlias, spray roses and sweet william.

The purple bridesmaid bouquet included stock, roses, kale, lavender, alstromeria, lavender, hydrangea and carnations.

Country Chic Wedding

This was such a fun wedding! Working with the bride, Mindi, was a treat and all of the special touches made the event top notch. Mindi chose the best of the best for her vendors including Essig Entertainment and Moxie Events. Her groom, Nick, was also very involved with the wedding planning which was sweet that it meant so much to him.

The wedding and the reception were held at Smith Oaks Ranch on Lorane Hwy in Eugene. Nick built the ceremony arbor himself and guests were seated on covered straw bales. The reception was in another cleared field area and the rectangular tables were a fresh alternative to the traditional rounds. The burlap table runners were hand-made as well as the burlap “Just Married” banner. We added simple milkglass budvases to each table, wine barrels and buffet tables. The overall look of the centerpieces was cohesive but each table had a different combination of flowers.

For Mindi’s bridal bouquet in shades of yellow and white I used “Alexandra” roses, “Butterscotch” roses, freesia, yellow-green cockscomb, hydrangea, stock, “Helga Piaget” garden roses and “Moonstruck” spray roses. Lots of jewels were added for plenty of sparkle.

These pictures were taken by Dandelions but if you want to see more of the wedding, check out Erika Nicole who photographed the event.

A Sweet Country Wedding

This adorable couple, Jessica and Tim, held their wedding at the Cloverdale Chapel in Creswell, OR with their reception at the school house next door. Although they lived out of state, Jessica and Tim choice to say “I do” here in Lane County where they have family. They were such a sweet couple and their love was captured beautifully by Eugene photographer Jamie Zanotti. It was our first chance to work with Jamie and we were stunned by her level of professionalism and speed in addition to the amazing photography. Fall Bridal Bouquets

If you’re planning a fall wedding the season is quickly approaching. The colors in autumn are so gorgeous and September/October weddings here in Oregon tend to be fantastic. Yes, the weather in October is a bit dicey…but the leaves!! So pretty. Here are some ideas and inspiration for wedding bouquets if you are exchanging vows this fall.

A beautiful mix of tropical flowers with dahlias and sunflowers

Sunflowers are available in both standard and minis- combine both sizes for more interest

Shades of orange gerbera daisies, carnations, roses and alstromeria

Fiery orange tones are quite stunning against the champagne and ivory dresses

The miniature calla lilies are used to create the in-out look for more interest and texture

Haley didn't want white for her bouquet and chose a larger version of her bridesmaids' bouquets
