Purple Flowers for Weddings

Purple was traditionally the color of royalty and its rich color is not lost on today’s brides. From pale periwinkle to deep eggplant, purple has a myriad of shades which lend themselves to a variety of looks for your wedding. Since Pantone announced Radiant Orchid as the 2014 Color of the Year, purple will be taking center stage in the upcoming year. Radiant Orchid is a gorgeous medium purple with fuschia and pink undertones it combines will with a variety of colors.

Many brides try to match their flowers exactly to the bridesmaid’s dresses or linen colors but I always recommend a different route. Choosing a mixtures of shades in the color palette will make everything look more luxurious, textured and visible. If the flowers are all exactly the same shade it will look like a big ball of one color without any dimension. Let your florist incorporate varying shades for the most effective use of flowers and a final look that will be much more luxurious and less DIY.

Light Pink Wedding

We often get requests from brides for peonies throughout the year. Unfortunately, peonies have a short growing season locally. The season is extended slightly through farms that grow peonies in Alaska and South America. So for the bride who wants a peony look but can’t afford the $15-$30 a stem price of off-season peonies, garden roses provide an excellent alternative.

white and pink peony wedding

This wedding had a very pink theme! The bridal bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets were pink and white and the flower girls carried sweet pink pomanders. Helga Piaget garden roses, Mariatheresa garden spray roses and blush pink ranunculus created a soft pink look. The bridal bouquet was collared with silver dusty miller. and had locket pictures attached to the stem wrap. Very pretty and feminine!

A Sweet Country Wedding

This adorable couple, Jessica and Tim, held their wedding at the Cloverdale Chapel in Creswell, OR with their reception at the school house next door. Although they lived out of state, Jessica and Tim choice to say “I do” here in Lane County where they have family. They were such a sweet couple and their love was captured beautifully by Eugene photographer Jamie Zanotti. It was our first chance to work with Jamie and we were stunned by her level of professionalism and speed in addition to the amazing photography. All photos are shown with permission from Jamie Zanotti. Check out her website here.

This amazing tan orchid with pink veins looked amazing in this bouquet

An orange and pink bridal bouquet for a “Hawaiian” theme wedding

Although it was a Hawaiian themed wedding, the bride wanted more traditional flowers so we brought in white freesia that were reminiscent of plumeria

These unique tan and pink orchids brought a touch of tropical

The starting bouquet created in shades of green including hydrangea, green trick carnations, sedum, rosemary, poppy pods, green chrysanthemums, ti leaves and a moss orb.

The light green Mega Beaded wire intertwined in this bouquet added a touch of modernity for the bride who likes a little something different

Adding in more natural elements like the curly willow, eucalyptus pods and seed pods turned the green bouquet into a natural and earthy statement.

Stem wrap treatment using 2 shades of bullion wire

Three shades of carnations combined to make this bridesmaid’s bouquet. Grouping the colors together keeps it from looking like polka-dots

A great way to differentiate a bridal or maid of honor bouquet is to add a touch of glam with jewels or crystals
