National Leadership in our shop

Shirley Lyons, the owner of Dandelions Flowers & Gifts in Eugene is the Chairwoman of the 2009 Society of American Florists Convention in Phoenix, AZ Sept 22 – 26, 2009. This National organization of retail florists, flower growers and floral wholesalers includes members from North and South America.

Toviana Jackson, one of Dandelions floral designers will also be attending the convention and learning new floral design techniques and skills, attending the annual Sylvia Cup design competition, as well as bringing home many new products and ideas.

It is always an exciting time to learn and bring new innovation to our shop as we gain ideas and insight from the greatest florists and industry leaders throughout the country.

Shirley is often the only retail florist in the State of Oregon attending convention and she has served for the past decade on several national SAF committees including Chairman of Floral Management magazine, Consumer Marketing Committee as well 2 years as Convention Chair, and designing flowers for the 2005 Presidential Inauguration.

We are always seeking new ideas to keep the flower power blooming in Eugene. Shirley...always talking at SAF meetings!

A beautiful wedding at King Estate Winery

I had the pleasure of working with the bride, Brittany Steele, and her mother on her beautiful wedding in August. It was held at King Estate Winery in Eugene, Oregon and the weather (although windy) was blue skies and a great temperature.

A combination of hydrangea, roses, and lilies created perfectly sized centerpieces.

A combination of hydrangea, roses, and lilies created perfectly sized centerpieces.

Hydrangeas, seasonal dahlias, and lilies were the focus of the flowers and the bright orange gave everything a “pop” against the background. Congratulations to the bride and groom!
