Bras for a Cure 2014 Contest!

pink ribbon flowersOctober has arrived, and along with it the campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer. Those who have been affected by this disease testify to its far-reaching affects – affects that have the potential to devastate them in body and mind, but also those who they love – who not only watch them suffer, but suffer along with them. This is why breast cancer awareness is so important, and why we work so hard to raise awareness. Bras for a Cure Eugene

No doubt, breast cancer is a serious issue. But there’s something healing and uplifting about finding a way to approach life, and the hardships it throws our way with humor! It enables us to look at this difficult issue and feel like maybe we can make a difference. Maybe we can affect change…because the truth is that we most definitely can! bra decorating contest

A Successful Bras for a Cure REVEAL Party!!!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we at Dandelions wanted to do something to help raise awareness and offer help for those afflicted by cancer. We decided to do our Bras for a Cure fundraising event where anyone could decorate a bra and enter it to be voted on in the Bras for a Cure competition. The entry fee and all the proceeds from the votes would go to benefit cancer patients and survivors at the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute Foundation. Last night to commence the voting,  we held our first Bras for a Cure REVEAL party – and it was such a success!!!

So many people from our community showed up to show their support and vote. We owe you so much thanks – the evening would not have been a success without you!!

Also, thank you for the news coverage KMTR!!  You can see the video at the KMTR Bras for a Cure Media Clip and on youtube.

So many collaborated in making this evening so great, and we’d be remiss not to mention them:

Thank you Dana and the team from Willamette Valley Cancer Institute Foundation for entering a bra into the contest and being there last night and answering any questions.

Thanks to Lindsey Kate and the staff from Cawood, who helped market our event and set up the displays for Willamette Valley Cancer Institute.

Thank you Sarver Winery for allowing us to sample their superb wines.

Of Course, thank you to our wonderful team here at Dandelions who helped set up the displays and then worked late to serve everyone at the party.

And not least of all – thank you to everyone who entered a decorated bra into the contest. We would not have had an event without you.

It’s not too late to participate in Bras for a Cure. Voting will continue until October 31st. You can check out the entries at brasforacure.com or on the Bras for a Cure facebook page, and then purchase a vote by calling us at Dandelions. Or come in to the store and check out bras on display.
